Is it true that taller people are more powerful? Every American president in the last 100 years has been taller than the average American male. And research seems to confirm the theory. Taller people make US$789 per inch per year!
According to a study in the Journal of Applied Psychology (August 2004) every inch above average is worth more than $800 per year.
Findings suggest that a man who is six feet tall earns, on average, more than $166,000 more during a 30 year career than someone five feet five inches tall.
So what do you do if you are not tall? We asked Brand New You’s Head of Presence, Suzi Dougherty to give us some good tips:
- Learn how to stand properly – you can add inches with good posture.
- Sit properly – if you sit straight and open your diaphragm, you look taller and have greater presence.
- Learn to breathe – people with great presence move slowly and take up space.
